Built on the regulars.
Backbone opened in 2018 as a community focused barbershop, and it still runs that way. Men's haircuts, fades and skin fades, beard grooming and modern barbering, done properly and without hurrying you out of the chair.
Clients have voted it the Gold Coast's best barbershop two years running in the Gold Coast Bulletin's Best Barbershop awards. There's a second shop in West Burleigh, and through Backbone Barber Education the crew also runs training, workshops and pathways for qualified and emerging barbers.
The old way
Hot towel. Bay Rum. Cutthroat.
The traditional face or head shave starts with hot towels soaked in an essential oil and Bay Rum blend, then a cutthroat razor, then a cold towel and moisturiser or aftershave to finish. Forty five minutes you won't want to end.

Four barbers. All seniors.
Every barber on the Currumbin team is a senior, including Sam, the owner. When you book online you can choose who you sit with.

I brought my 10 yr old son in for a haircut. His first at a real barber. He had a picture of what he wanted and the brief was absolutely nailed! End result looking exactly like the picture! Sollie showed great attention to detail and asked questions throughout the haircut making sure he was comfortable. We are both stoked with his hair! And his first words upon leaving were 'I'm always coming back here when I need a haircut!'

Childrens cuts for under 13s start from $45. Bring a photo of what they want. Fades to zero or 0.5, and tracks or lightning bolts, are priced as extras.
